The FHS Boy’s Swim and Dive team has had a remarkable season and the boy’s dedication and teamwork has shown in both their meets and in their undefeated record. Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, the boys met Southington at our home pool at Miss Porter’s school, the night ended with the boys being crowned the CCC West Champions for the first time since 2013. That evening also served as the team’s annual Senior Night. The coaching staff and team members dove into the pool following their win, showcasing their strong bond and community between the coaches and players.
While the team focuses on their performance in the pool, the coaches place the same amount of value on their behavior outside of their performance. Coach Ferrigno is a staff member who dedicates his time to serving as the Boys Swim and Dive coach.
“All our coaches are there for the athletes trying to give them the best possible team experience. This includes teaching life lessons through sports, challenging every level of athlete to improve and reach new goals and to teach the importance of inclusion and compassion,” shared Ferrigno.
Although the nature of a sport focuses on individual performances in swimming and diving, the team excels due to their focus on collaboration.
“It’s pretty clear from the first day of practice that our sport is a “team sport”. It’s an encouraging atmosphere that helps each other train and compete at a high level,” stated Ferrigno.
Along with the girls team, the boys traveled to Fort Lauderdale for their training camp which focused on improving their skills and promoting community within the program. The boys are preparing for the Class L State Meet which starts on March 6th, 2026. They will focus on challenging themselves to meet their goals and to produce even stronger results.
“I am very proud of the athletes I’ve coached over the years. The work ethic, team camaraderie, the friendships formed are highlights to this program. I’ve been blessed with so many amazing memories. It’s been wonderful to be a part of such a special program,” reflected Ferrigno.
