Farmington High School’s (FHS) boys basketball team is gearing up for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. This will mark the team’s second season with Coach Craig Archambault, as he and the team are looking forward to facing a competitive road ahead.
Last year was a transition year for Farmington Boys Basketball, with the team having graduated many of its players at the end of the previous season. They fought hard through every game, but didn’t receive the results they wanted. This year, the roster hasn’t changed, but the challenges of last season have strengthened the chemistry and culture. The team has been hard at work during the off-season, hoping to build a stronger, more connected team to lead them to a more promising season this year.
The program is led by co-captains senior point guard Tyler Thompson and junior shooting guard Chase Clay. Thompson facilitates the offense by creating offensive opportunities for the team while Clay emerged as a leader his sophomore year and earned the role as a junior captain. Both players strive to play with toughness and grit, encapsulating the team’s mindset to play hard and to play for each other.
“Our team’s goal this year is to be a team that is in contention for the CCC and state tournament. Farmington has always had a tradition of being a tough team that competes hard in the state tournament, this year we are looking to bounce back and bring the true Farmington tradition back to our team,” stated Clay.
Between the players and coaching staff, there’s a clear alignment as to what it will take to reach those expectations. The team has spent the offseason rebuilding its identity through consistent effort, stronger communication, and a renewed focus on accountability. That shared mindset has created a foundation the players believe can carry them into the competitive stretch of the season, setting the stage for the standards head coach Archambault emphasizes.
“Our goals are to live up to our team standards every single day, get 1% better everyday, both individually and collectively and let the outcomes control themselves,” stated Archambault.
With a renewed identity, elevated expectations, and a team anchored in accountability, Farmington enters the season with determination. The months of preparation culminate now, as players and coaches look to prove that effort and culture can carry them far. With clear goals and unified leadership, the team is ready to take on whatever challenges the schedule brings. You can find their schedule on the CIAC website or the FHS boys basketball instagram page.
