Holiday Light Fantasia sparks holiday festivities in Connecticut

The Hartford Holiday Light Fantasia opened November 28, kicking off the holiday season. The collection of over one million lights turns Goodwin Park in Hartford into an impressive holiday display.

Presented by financial planners Johnson and Brunetti, Fantasia benefits the nonprofit organization the Channel 3 Kids Camp. For the past 20 years, the proceeds of the event have helped operate the camp, while also growing the display each year. The proceeds make it possible for children to attend the camp, no matter their financial status.

Last year, 100,000 guests attended the light show to see the display and participate in the holiday joy. Guests drive throughout the 2.1 mile display all in the warmth of your car. Viewers can cozy up, turn on their favorite holiday music, and enjoy the lights.

The Fantasia features an array of familiar characters from movies and television shows, as well as lighted animations celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years, and Three Kings Day.

Setting up the display is no easy task, but with the support and help of hundreds of volunteers, testing the lights, arranging the figures, and replacing light bulbs, the Fantasia impresses year after year.

Junior Joe Scully attended this year’s show and is excited for the approaching holiday season.

“The Fantasia never fails to disappoint. I enjoyed all the bright and colorful lights as it really got me in the holiday mood. I also had a good laugh, seeing many familiar faces from movies in the lights throughout the Fantasia. Driving through, really made me want to go decorate my Christmas tree with my family and celebrate the holidays,” Scully said.

The Holiday Light Fantasia, is open from November 28, to January 1, 2020, and costs $15 a car. The show is also open on Christmas Eve, Christmas night, New Year’s eve, and New Year’s day.
