“Paw Patrol is one of the biggest clubs at FHS. Everyone has the same values and goals surrounding fundraising and awareness for animals in need. Being a part of Paw Patrol helps inspire students to contribute to the community,” remarked club Vice President Brooke Hacker.
One of their biggest (and club advisor Kaitlyn McIntyre’s favorite) events is the annual Walk-A-Thon on Farmington’s bike trail by the river. This event occurs each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and in the spring. Community members come to the river trail and can purchase hot chocolate in the fall, and in the spring baked goods alongside pet treats to benefit rescue animals and their shelters.
“It’s a really popular event, especially with alumni. It functions as a mini-reunion because alumni bring their dogs and are able to get together after graduation,” McIntyre stated.
One of the most successful aspects of the Paw Patrol club is the large population of students involved. Over the past few years, they have kept an overall head count of over three hundred members of like-minded contributors who love animals and are passionate about making a difference in animals’ lives.
Although the semi-annual Walk-A-Thon is their most popular event, Paw Patrol will continue to give and fundraise for these animals in need year-round. The club will keep benefitting Outrider Dogs in Simsbury and Aid-A-Pet in Hartford. The club also hosts pet food food drives and fundraisers often, so keep an eye out for their Google Classroom.
“Please join our Google Classroom to be notified about club meetings and events! People can also participate in our Walk-A-Thons without being a club member, or bring in goods and funds during donation drives. We appreciate everyone for their support!” stated McIntyre.
