Farmington baseball ended their regular season with a record of 7-13, with key wins against Avon, Conard, and Northwest Catholic. The team is traveling to Fairfield Warde for the first round of the state playoffs on May 28th.
With a new head coach this year, the team had to adapt to new coaching styles, as well as a new approach to culture on the team. Senior Hayden Dillon states, “It was a great stepping stone for success in the future. Making states in his first year is a great accomplishment, and with plenty of young talent in the future, I can’t wait to see how this program grows in the future.”
The boys team started the year 2-9, but they never lost hope. They pushed through their obstacles and prioritized team chemistry.
“We stayed together as a team no matter how down we were, the team dinners brought optimism back, as it also improved our team bond. We knew that our record didn’t reflect the motivation we had to continue the season,” added Dillon.
The boys finished their last 9 games 5-4, just getting enough wins to make the state tournament. With the season coming to a close, the seniors can’t wait to see how the team grows during the offseason for next year. They are also looking forward to seeing Coach Dave Maljanian’s further success as he continues his tenure as the head coach of the boys baseball team.
