After years of commitment to Farmington High School (FHS) athletics, Ms. Escajeda, the beloved Athletic Director Assistant, is retiring. Known for her warm presence, tireless work ethic, and deep connection to the student community, Escajeda leaves behind a legacy that will be felt far beyond the fields and courts.
“My favorite part of being in this position has been watching the kids go through year after year,” Escajeda reflects.“I started out and my kids went to school here and so did their friends, and it was so exciting, just watching their success and being a part of that.”
Her passion for supporting students and athletes never went unnoticed. Whether helping organize events or cheering from the sidelines, she always found joy in the energy of the student body.
“I will miss the energy of the students and student athletes,” she said.
Even in retirement, Escajeda doesn’t plan to step away completely. She hopes to continue attending games, running ticket stands from time to time, and staying close to the community she holds dear. Most of all, she’s looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren.
In her last year here, she expressed one of her most memorable moments being the 2005 Generals Hockey Team state championship win.
“[Their comeback was] absolutely unforgettable. It was one of those nights where the entire building was electric. The determination those boys showed on the ice that night was the perfect example of what high school sports are all about,” reflected Escajeda.
Escajeda has always admired the determination and heart of Farmington’s student-athletes. She loved “seeing the athletes putting in hard work” and watching them strive to better themselves, which inspired her every day.
As she begins this new chapter, the entire FHS community thanks Ms. Escajeda for her years of dedication, kindness, and school spirit. She will be missed dearly, but her presence will always be a part of Farmington athletics.
