This year, the team will be led by senior captains Dayna Deakin and Allie Daugherty. Deakin hopes to lead them team to more wins and will draw on her experience as a gymnast to lead.

“My goal is to lead our team to more wins throughout the season and make it to states. I will keep the team on track and motivated with upbeat music and positive attitudes,” Deakin said.

In addition to Deakin, Daugherty and Kot, the team will be looking towards juniors Anna Mihalek and Gabby Butler, sophomores Lily Roy, Olivia Paré and Sophie Bottalico, and freshman Noel Ciravolo to contribute to the team’s overall scores. The girls’ next home meet will take place on Saturday, January 12 against South Windsor and Ellington.

The team is anticipating yet another conference rival meet against Glastonbury on January 26, and they will be preparing for it throughout the season.

“Glastonbury is one of the best teams we will face this year. We are going to have to work on being consistent in all areas,” junior Lizzie Kot said.
