On April 5th, Chip City, a United States cookie chain, recently opened a new location at Blue Back Square in West Hartford, Connecticut. With thirty nine locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Florida, and over fifty rotating flavors, Chip City is quickly rising in popularity. If there’s one cookie synonymous with comfort, it’s the perfect chocolate chip cookie. I had the pleasure of tasting Chip City’s signature chocolate chip cookie, and it did not disappoint. From the outside, the cookie was unassuming, however, the inside was delicious. The exterior gave a satisfying crunch upon first bite and revealed a gooey and sweet interior. Flavor-wise, the cookie had a buttery taste with the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate was rich and complemented the dough perfectly. I rate this cookie a 4.5/5.
I also tried the cookies n’ cream cookie. The cookie was warm and gooey on the inside, and the blend of buttery dough, oreo bits, and white chocolate chips combined to form a delectable medley of flavors. Although it was a little too sweet for my liking, it was still a tasty treat. I rate this cookie a 4/5.The last cookie I tried was the banana cream pie cookie, which was my personal favorite. With an appetizing exterior, the inside was just as good. It consisted of rich dough, delicious banana pudding filling, and a dollop of sugary frosting on top, which together, made a delightful combination. The filling and frosting also created an interesting texture that added to the experience. I rate this cookie a 5/5.
Lastly, I tried the crookie, or croissant cookie, a unique twist on a classic pastry. To make a Chip City crookie, croissant dough is stuffed with either confetti, chocolate chip, cookies n’ cream, or triple chocolate chip cookie dough. I tried the confetti crookie, and it was delicious. The flaky and buttery croissant was complemented perfectly by the sweet confetti dough. Although the croissant flavor slightly overpowered the cookie dough, it was still scrumptious. I rate this crookie a 4.5/5. If any of these sweet treats sound good, be sure to check out Chip City in West Hartford!
