The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Avengers Endgame released on April 24.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film broke the world record for the most successful opening weekend ever, grossing roughly $1.2 billion. The film is also close to passing Avatar for the highest grossing film of all time.

Endgame received the second highest Rotten Tomatoes score out of all the MCU movies, with a 95 percent. Endgame is a worthy conclusion for the MCU, and it is highly recommendable to fans of the series who are looking for some long awaited answers.

The film had a run time of a whopping three hours and two minutes, but despite this large amount of time, it never seemed to drag. There was never a dull moment that left audiences checking their watches or wondering when it was finally going to end.

Endgame was a continuation of Avengers Infinity War, providing a conclusion to Marvel’s Avengers franchise. The characters were well developed, but there was not as much depth to many of the characters as in Infinity War.

The villain of Infinity War carried over into Endgame, with the mad titan Thanos returning for an epic final battle. Thanos still has the same goal, to wipe out half of the population, so that the other half can live out a prosperous existence with an abundance of resources. After succeeding with this plan in Infinity War, he leaves the remaining heroes of Earth defeated and distraught. The majority of the population is unable to accept the current state of the world and can’t move on from it.

As a result, the remaining Avengers devise a plan to bring everyone back. The final solution is to travel back through time, gathering all the infinity stones before Thanos, allowing them to reverse what he did in Infinity War.

The time traveling did cause some problems for the Avengers, however, with Thanos discovering their plan and traveling to the future to attempt to reclaim the stones and fulfill his master plan. This obviously results in a final showdown between the heroes of Earth and Thanos’ army.

The final battle scene was one of the best scenes of the entire movie, with all the special effects and different perspectives from several characters. The conclusion of this sequence is fitting, yet sad, because fans had to say goodbye to one of the franchise’s main characters.

Once the timeline is fixed by the stones being returned to the moments they were taken, we are finally able to reach a peaceful ending to Marvel’s three phase plan.
