Seal of Biliteracy opportunity for French, Spanish juniors
April 4, 2018
Juniors in French V or VH or in Spanish V or VH have the opportunity to take the Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages (APPL) on April 21 in the World Language Lab from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. through the Farmington Continuing Education.
Those who demonstrate at the Intermediate-Mid Proficiency level will earn The Seal of Biliteracy by the State of Connecticut which will be affixed to the students’ graduation diplomas.
“If they meet the required proficiency level and complete all of graduation requirements in English, they can get the Seal of Biliteracy on their diplomas. This may actually help with correct placement in a college language course,” World Language Department Leader Jeri Chamberlain said.
The test will be taken online and will include interpersonal listening, speaking, presentational writing, interpretive listening, and interpretive reading on various topics such as sports, everyday activities and school.
