E-commerce visits Primacy
April 4, 2017
On March 27, students from the E-commerce capstone went on a field trip to Primacy, a local company in the town. The company is a marketing agency service that visited the class earlier in the year when the students were representing their own individual businesses as the first part of the capstone.
Now that the class has combined into a whole class business, titled SenseSafe, the field trip functioned as an opportunity to see how Primacy runs as a business as well as to get advice for the class’ own business. They looked to receive feedback to help them to prepare for the Expo, which is taking place later this year.
“This eld trip was helpful for us to understand how to market our business and also to get a better understanding of how an efficient business functions. I also think it was very insightful for our marketing department to learn about different ways to advertise our product efficiently,” junior Rashmi Rajesh said.
The class worked alongside three associates from Primacy to describe their company and learn about what makes an effective business.
Junior Jay Cohen is a capstone student and accompanied his class on the eld trip.
“The trip was a success due to the knowledge we acquired, and how we will change our business to get it ready for Expo,” Cohen said.
E-Commerce teacher Maria Giarratana was pleased with the outcome of the eld trip and its impact on her students.
“It was a fantastic experience for us as a group to receive valuable feedback from professionals at Primacy in regards to the team business,” Giarratana said.
The goal of the capstone class is to target their efforts towards creating an attachment to brake lights of a car that alert the driver when they go out in the form of an alert on the driver’s phone. e class presented this idea to the workers at Primacy to look for how to improve it.
“I think, after the meeting, we have quite a bit to revise and rethink in order to better target our product to consumers and to increase our chances of succeeding at Expo,” senior Chris Ware said.
